HDI Global Specialty signs commercial drone partnership with Precision Autonomy

HDI Global Specialty SE Australia, the specialty lines insurer, has announced a partnership with underwriting agency Precision Autonomy to use its proprietary model for inflight and autonomous vehicles, beginning with commercial drone insurance.

As part of the deal, HDI Global Specialty SE Australia has appointed Precision Autonomy to underwrite and accept commercial drone insurance on their behalf.  Through its cloud-based platform and unique rating model, Precision Autonomy will underwrite both traditional annual policies and pay-per-minute policies based on individual drone pilot usage.

“As technology advances and we seek alternative, sustainable and safer autonomous transport and delivery, this market, including commercial drone use will grow dramatically. Providing the right insurance solutions for brokers and operators will be the key to this growth.”

The partnership will initially see insurance solutions being offered in Australia and New Zealand for commercial drones.
